History
CSI The Hague is a consortium founded in 2009 in The Hague. The initiator of the project is Hans Arnold:
“As an innovation manager I often get inspired by fiction. Once I saw the movie Disclosure. In this picture the main character works at a high-tech company and is suspected of fraud. To prove his innocence he goes back in history by using a virtual reality device. He is able to feel, smell, hear, taste and observe what has happened in the past. By investigating the ‘crime scene’ in virtual reality he is able to purify his name.
In real life we can only investigate a crime scene once. If we forget to secure possible evidence, it will be gone forever. But the ability to investigate a crime scene is restricted by our senses. Evidence we cannot see, smell or feel is difficult or impossible to collect. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could preserve the crime scene digitally? If fiction could become reality?
I am very proud that state-of-the art institutes such as the Netherlands Forensic Institute and high-tech companies are working together to make my dream come true.”
